Les contes d’Hoffmann is an opera about the four loves of Hoffmann and composed by the operetta master, Jacques Offenbach. The French libretto, written by Jules Barbier, is based on short stories by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, a German author of horror and fantasy from the Romantic period.  Hoffmann’s love of women is revealed in the Prologue when we are introduced to the lovely Italian opera singer Stella.  Hoffmann proceeds to take us on a journey to meet three of his past loves: Olympia, Guilietta and Antonia.  It is a fabulous journey where we meet some very interesting characters along the way.
